Maria Writes: Complaint:
First Select Corporation:
I ad an opened an account with this credit card company in 2001. In 2002 I
had filed chapter 7 bankruptcy and it was discharged in Jan of 2002.
Everything was moving smoothly until May of 2003 when this company put the
same debt under a new account number back onto my credit report! I have
disputed the debt but the company no longer exists and the reporting agency
states they contacted the company and the debt is correct! If I can't find
a valid address or phone number for the company and the one I get from the
reporting agency is out of service, how is the reporting agency notifying
the credit card company? So here I am stuck with this on my credit report
for another 7 years and it dropped my score by 14 points when it came back
onto my credit report! Be careful.

The first time I heard of it was 2 years ago when I was mailed a letter from
attorney Frank J. Ball telling me that I owed him $2000.00 for unpaid credit
card bills. I do not even have an old statement from the company, I have
gone through all of my old bills and can find nothing. It does not even

the claim anyway. I have not been able to contact the company or any

I did not know I had a card with First Select, Inc., Didn't even know who
they were, but at my closing for the sale of the house, I had to close so
let the title company pay them off, I should have disputed it but I needed
the money. There was a judgment and I had no choice. The judgement was for
$7399 and Consolidated Title company paid them $9928.
The judgment is still on my credit report and I cannot find an address
anywhere for them or even a phone number. If anyone has any information
about this, please advise.

Complaint: For all of you complaining about First Select Corporation (I
believe a subsidiary of Providian Financial), I might have some good news!
I am trying to clean my credit report and found an entry from First Select
Corporation (a collection agency) in my credit report. I called information
to try and get a recent address but found nothing. I claimed bankruptcy in
2001 and found an old address on my 2004 credit report, so I wrote them a
letter. I sent it certified mail, and the address I wrote to is: First
Select Corporation P.O. Box 99607, Arlington, TX 76096. The person that
signed as receiving the letter is Ronnie XXX. I have not heard back yet,
but I will keep you updated. I mailed the letter 7/27/2005, so it exists
somewhere! Good Luck! |

that I was in default to this creditor. As I disputed the debt, the attorney
provided me with only an affidavit from the creditor that I owed this money,
but they could not provide me with any further info. The debt was bought by
Creidgy Recievables from First Select - and now I have to go to court to

but it's still going to court! Is there anything I can do about this? |

Help! I'm at a dead end! I opened up an account with Discover Card back in
2000. Since I didn't pay off that credit card right away, it was sold to a
company called First Select Corporation. Recently I tried to track this
account down so I could pay it off. First I called Discover who validated
that it was sold to First Select & they could only provide me with this
phone number, 1-800-280-xxxx, and nothing more. I called this number and was
greeted by an automated message that asked for my acct # or social security
#. It did not recognize my acct # or my s.s.# and then booted me off with a
"Thank you. Goodbye." There is no way to go to an operator or a real person
of any kind. So now I'm stuck. I have no way to get through to First Select
to pay this bill off so I can get it off my record once and for all! If
anyone has any advice, I would greatly greatly greatly appreciate it.

Complaint:
Last year, 2004, I opened my door to a gentleman serving me with papers to
appear in court for this "outstanding balance" for First Select, AKA
Credigy Recievables, AKA Providian. I freaked out! I then called my
attorney friend and had them look into it....well I never went to court
because they couldn't come up with any credit card agreement (because there
wasn't one!)and the case went away...until yesterday, 12/14/05. I get
another letter stating that I owe them money. This time it is from an
attorney in KS. Lower amount of money, to be paid to Credigy Rec.
I pull out all of my old paper work, look thru each credit report, still
find that it is a bogus claim.
BUT last year when this was happening, I did find that they opened a claim
in 2002....funny because I didn't....
under the name Credigy and First Select, and Providian...I contacted the
credit report agencies and said this was false, they sent back my report in
late 2004 stating that they had DELETED those false claims.
Now this stupid company is trying it again. Well, they are in for a
surprise because I am sending them copies of everything that has transpired
since 2002...credit reports, attorney information, these postings, etc....
And too I read a page from Trans Union, that there are times when a false
charge can be used to sue the offending company. hmmmm.... |

long story short that never happened and now I have a $3,000.00 balance that
Credigy is trying to collect from me and since its been some years I don't
have that paid in full letter anymore. This sucks because this is really
hurting my credit. I called credigy to see if they had any info on First

While trying to buy a house last month it was brought to my attention I had
a $3000 debt with a credit card collection agency by the name of Credigy
corp...They are the collector for outstanding debts for First Select credit
cards.
I never had a credit card with First Select.. I called this company to
figure this out and they directed me to a local agency that now had this
debt..I called the local agency and was told " We deemed that debt invalid
and rejected it"..Funny that Credigy wouldnt know this !!
I call to figure out a dispute and was told the amount was $2714.. I go
through the proper steps and today I called to get the fax number for a
signed Identity Theft Affidafit...They said sure here you go and your total
is $3150... Holy crap, where did that extra $500 come from...She says,
"interest and fees"...One month it took to raise this debt somehow, I guess
they raised it hoping I would settle and this would get more out of me..
I would love to get a class action going against First Select and/or Credigy
their collection debt... |

My husband and I recently applied for a home mortgage. We were approved on

Complaint: I filed for bancruptcy in 2001, First Select was one of the cards

had to make sure he was not held liable and all payments were made through

this was still on his credit report. There were never any bills received by
either of us concerning this debt. It was sold to Credigy, from what they
told me sometime between Dec 2002 and May 2003. They have no record of my
payment being received. Now an attorney has contacted my X husband to tell
him he will be receiving a letter to appear in court and is being sued for
this matter. I am working with my attorney, and X husband, and trying to
work with Credigy to get this matter straightened out. Then I found this

Thank you for your informative web site! Thanks to your postings, I was
able to get a phone number for Credigy (1-678-728-7310). I had to leave a

promises to "return the call within 24 hours". I'm not holding my breath.
I am an attorney who is representing a client beseiged by a debt supposedly
owed to First Select Corp. On her credit report, it says, "Judgment Filed"
on a certain date. When I went to the court's website and pulled up her
case, it appears that the entire case against her took place while she was
out of the country! How, exactly, did First Select Corp. take a client to
court when that client was half a world away at the time? Also, according
to the court's records, the case was never finalized.
She was unaware of this 6-year old case against her until she tried to get a
loan for a house last week. |

Complaint: I read some of the complaints that have been posted on here about
First Select Inc. Anywhere from "can't find them", " they are ghosts". I
completely agree with all of these comments. I dealt with First Select Inc.
in 2002 in regards to a debt from 1999. So I went ahead and dealt with them
so I could regain a good status on my credit report. After making 4 payments
of $100 dollars each, they mysteriously disappeared. There was no address,
phone number, nothing at all on them. I was contacted in 2003 by another
collection agency and they told me that the debt was the full balance before
First Select Inc. cashed the checks I sent. I advised the Second Collection
Agency of everything. I sent them copies of cancelled checks, statements
from First Select and they did not honor the fact that I attempted to make
good on the debt, even with the proof, statements, faxes, letters, etc. They
then transferred it to yet a third agency who is now contacting me asking
for double!
the amount originally owed without the money I applied to the debt through
First Select. I asked the third agency to send me a letter of representation
to let me know who they were before I talked to them in regards to this
debt. They finally, 4 weeks after the call took place, sent me the letter
that now states it was purchased from none other than FIRST SELECT INC. I
researched online today and all I found was people complaining about how
they paid First Select and now they no longer exist. I also went on to the
Better Business Bureau and there is absolutely nothing found on this company
I think we've all been had by FIST SELECT. If anyone has any further
information on these people, please be kind and send me an e-mail and let me
know what you know. Thanks |

Complaint:
What a joke. I just received a letter from the so-called atty's listed
above that I had a judgement filed on July 27, 1999 for $4617.58, and that I
now owe $8163.54. About 3 or 4 years ago, this so-called collection law
firm actually emptied my bank account on 2 occasions. I notified the
Sheriff's office in their county and got my money returned to my account.
However, I had several checks bounce, and it cost me something like $50 each
time to file the papers proving they acted illegally. I thought this joke
was over with until this week, when I started getting taped phone calls, and
then this letter. What started it all was a trip to Boston with all charges
put on one card, when I got home, I called the credit card company, asked
them for the payoff balance, and immediately sent them a check. I kept
getting billed for interest they said I owed, and I told them I had paid off
their balance, and didn't owe anything. I finally said, if you can send me
any proof that so!
mething was purchased on the cards, I would gladly pay for it. Nothing was
ever done until First Select bought the "closed" account and said I owed
them something astronomicle now, that all beganwith some odd $20 in interest
that should never have been there. NOW - it's $8 grand plus. What a
flippin joke - these A-hole need to be put to rest in a bad way! Count me
in on any class action activity. I might even pursue it myself tomorrow.
Good luck to all!

Complaint_against: First Select
All,
To get this removed from off your credit report you have to involve the
court system. Leave First Selects represented attorney alone. Deal with
the court and the credit agency. All you need is verification of payment.
If you know who the creditor is...Pay the creditor, and provide proof of
payment to the court. The court will provide you documentation. Take your
confirmation of payment and that court document and send it to the credit
agency. At that point the credit agency does not need to verify with the
creditor. This works with judgements. If you have no judgements from First
Select or Credigy. Sue their ass. Find a good attorney |

Complaint: A while back I was contacted by Credigy stating that I was
delinquent in paying a debt to them of about $11 thousand dollars! When I
stated that I had never borrowed $11K from anyone including their company
they became very rude, tossing words about such as lawsuit, wage
garnishment, threatening my husband and myself with attorney fees and the
possibility that we could lose our house (ok, I've borrowed MORE than $11000
when purchasing my home...in the form of an honest-to-goodness
mortgage...)By looking through my credit reports I came acroos some amounts
and dates that started making a pattern...In 1998 I opened an account with
MBNA. During the next couple years I used the card to it's limits...my
husband broke his back in 1999 and we got behind in our bills, so I used it
for medical bills, household bills, groceries, the house payment. All
tolled, the amounts totalled about $6500. As of Jan 2001, MBNA charged off
the amount and last reported this to the credit b!
ureaus as of March 2001, without our knowledge. In April 2001 we refinanced
with Ameriquest, and as part of our new loan we agreed to have Ameriquest
pay off the card to re-establish our credit (not knowing that MBNA had done
the charge-off)...After a strange paper trail through Providian, then First
Select, with differing, but similar amounts and little contact with me,
these companies reported me as delinquent as well. It turns out that the
title company handling the refinance made "a payment" an amount close to a
monthly payment, to MBNA, then the account was purchased by Providian, then
1st Select and finally Credigy who says that we "opened the account" in
12/2002 for about $7300!! As of last month...we now are touted as owing
about $14000! Outrageous! What can I do...have the statute of limitations
run out...were they reinstituted when companies purchased the debt? My
credit in pretty low at the moment, no bankruptcies or judgements or public
notices, but I'm in the lo!
w 500s. I'm refinancing and was told I should "just pay them off". For one
thing I don't want to borrow the additional money and I don't feel it's
right to pay this company anything CLOSE to $14000! Any sound advice? I've
noticed that this company seems extremely shady...do they deserve to be sued
in return? Thanks for your comments!! |

I had a judgment on my credit report filed by First Select. I filed
bankruptcy and the judgment was included. I received a satisfication from
the county clerk. I then went to refinance my home and the judgment was
still on there not updated to satisfied. I disputed it with the credit
bureaus and it came back that the information was accurate that the judgment
was still outstanding. There should be some way all the people who have been
victimized by First Select should be compensated in some way.I feel this is
has to be illegal and needs to be stopped. They are ruining peoples credit. |

EVERYONE STATES THEY CAN'T GET INFORMATION... YET THIS IS POSTED IN THE

brings them to their knees. Please, if there is any attorneys out
there that can do this... save the innocent! HERE IS WHAT IS STATED at
web site:Providian Financial's First Select Corporation Achieves Billion
Dollar Milestone in its First Year of Operation SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 13
/PRNewswire/ -- Providian Financial Corporation (NYSE: PVN) announced today
that First Select Corporation, its wholly owned
subsidiary, has completed its first year of operation and has secured more
than $1 billion in contracts with seven of the nation's top credit card
issuers. The agreements represent commitments from creditors to sell their
charged-off receivables to First Select. First Select, which specializes in
the rehabilitation of consumer debt, offers accountholders a range of
payment plans to help them pay off this debt as quickly as possible and
begin to rebuild their credit. "Our success in achieving the billion
dollar milestone in our first year demonstrates that our operating
philosophy is right on the mark," said Roger Van Duinen, President of First
Select. "Our goal is to bring value both to the financial institutions from
whom we purchased the accounts and to our newly acquired customers by
helping them to rebuild their financial strength." By selling charged-off
debt to First Select, financial institutions can improve their bottom
lines and exit non-strategic markets. They can also rely on First Select's
consistency in the marketplace since First Select is backed by the financial
stability of Providian Financial. In addition, First Select offers value to
the customers whose accounts are purchased. According to Robert J. Hanna,
First Select's Senior Vice President, Business Development, "First Select
never loses sight of the fact that every one of the accounts we purchase
represents a valued customer," he said. "With that in mind, First
Select's mission is to treat all customers with dignity, trust and respect,
while working with each accountholder to customize a payment plan for them."
First Select also strives, once customers fulfill certain repayment
commitments, to assist them in acquiring new credit. "First Select
fits well with Providian's mission of helping people build or rebuild,
responsibly use and protect their credit," said Shailesh J. Mehta,
Providian's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "And this business
represents an additional avenue of growth for Providian Financial."

All of you are correct this company, First Select according to the number

out of business. I asked for him to pull up any info he had on my social
and all he could tell me was that it was bought out by credigy, and gave me
a number. The lawyers that are handling this case were not one bit helpful
and for good reason..after obtaining the court case number and pulling the
file, I was not properlly served and new nothing of the debt (#1) and (#2)
the company doesnot exist anymore. I am very sure the lawyers are the one
getting my hard earned money...cuz the bastards are garnishing 25% of my
wages and I doing everything possible to stop it and make it right. This is
a debt over 10yrs old!!!!!! according to them, is that legal..??? Any advise

When viewing our credit report we noticed a debt owed to First Select for
$6547.33 (originally from MBNA). Then it went to Credigy for the same
amount. That was in 2003 now it is 2006 the debt is now with Credigy or
Stewqart & Associates
P.O. Box 2389
Suwanee, GA 30024
1-866-990-9964
At the amount of $15,407.48. Now I requested an account Validation and they
sent me an account statement. Nothing showing we in fact made the debt or
how it is owed to them. The next step is to have it removed from our credit
report. I will let you know. I can not believe this company, very rude and
not in compliance with any of the FTC rules. Someone please put a stop to
this harassment. Why should we pay money to a court to fix this when it
should have never been able to go on this long in the fist place. For people
that are trying to keep up with there credit this is unacceptable. |

Complaint: When getting a credit report for my job it showed I had a court
judgement against me from First Select from an old account with Bank of
America from 6 or 7 years ago. I decided on my own to contact the listed
litigators, Aaron & Associates in Tucson,Az. in order to settle this debt as
I felt I should. When called I was told they had no knowledge of my case and
they would get back to me as I has provided them with some account numbers.
After not hearing from them for a week, I called again and was told again
they knew nothing of me. Further checking, I was informed the files had been
closed. I,in good faith, stayed with this pursuit to do what I thought was
right. Again this company forgot me and weeks later I contacted them again.
First I was told by a representative of A&A that I could put $300 down then
would only have to pay $1500 of the $3000 owed of the original $1000 debt to
BofA. This same rep. contacted my dad and dealt with him for $500 down with
a now inc!
reased debt amount. We then of our own offered a $2000 settlement to which
the rep. told me I most likely would not even have to pay that much. And
this rep. has told me First Select will not budge and the amount is well
over $3000. Of which we have actually given them $2000 as faith. This was
done approximately 1 1/2 months ago and I have heard nothing further from
them. I am also willing to file for civil litigation. But I suggest not
dealing with either entity with any morals as they don't with us. |

circle with all of our credit. My wife just receintly started receiving phone
calls from a Miss Grace from Stuarts& Associates law firm. They are calling
everyday, well this morning I was awaken by Miss Grace. After doing some
research, this bill originally came from MBNA, then to first select, then to
credigy, then now at their law office which is Stuarts and associates.
Where they scam and charge you interest, from the original bill, that will
never clear from your report. This all started from a MBNA bill back in
1999, it's now 2007 and they can charge interest from then. It's crazy.
Here's some numbers if you have the same problem, Credigy 678-728-7310, then
they will give you ext 4197 which goes to Stuarts and Assoc. in Georgia.
This happens sometimes, if they pick up, or hang up. Ask for a Chris Mims,

purchasing a home, auto, and negotiating awesome rates on my existing credit

that First Select Corp has placed a judgement on my credit report which has
now lowered my credit score. On my credit report it lists no information for
this company other than "sold to another lender." After researching my
bankruptcy papers, I discovered that Frank J. Ball was representing Discover
Card/First Select Corp. I am now working with an attorney to "clear up"
this issue. Isn't is amazing that you cannnot find any trace of First Select

This is in response to many of the postings I saw on this site. A few years
ago I tried to refinance my mortgage, and came accross a bunch of accounts
opened fraudulently in my name, with my personal information. One of these
was in collections with the original creditor. I got it squared away with
them and removed from my credit rating. They sold off the bad debt to...
First Select! They promptly ignored what had been cleared up before and
slapped it back onto my credit report. We argued back and forth by mail, and
it seemed to go away. But eventually it got sent to Stewart & Associates,
and attorney-run collection agency. I again played mail tag, submitting
protests and asking for information. After they called my wife and told her
they had obtained a judgement against me, we decided to call in our own
attorney. They had broken the Fair Credit Collection Act by lying. We just
won the case against them, and are now going to go after both Credigy and
First Select. My attorn!
ey is interested in starting a class-action suit here in Minnesota, for the
very reasons many of you list here on this site. Feel free to contact me for
contact info for our attorney.
For those of you who are also in the military, take a close look at your
governement charge card, if you have one. Mine had several fraudulent
charges on it, after I used it once, in Alaska on training. Within a couple
of months someone in Ohio and Virginia were making charges on it. I'm still
looking for the connection between that card (long since cancelled) and my
sudden residence and employment in Virginia, at least according to my credit
report. I have always lived in Minnesota, but I somehow became a doctor at
Georgetown University living in Temple Hills!! Look closely at your credit
reports and check for mysterious addresses. |

My situation is so similar to half of these people that have posted
complaints, it's downright scary. I never had an acct. w/ Metris as Credigy
Services Corp. listed. Then they supposedly sold to First Select who then
sold to Credigy Receivables. A long story short...I filed a dispute w/ all
credit reporting agencies and Credigy did not respond within 30day (or at
all) so the CRA's deleted the item from my credit file. Now 6/6/07 they
start up w/ me again. I am responding within the 30days and disputing the
validity of the item. I pulled Transunion, Experian, and Equifax yesterday
and noticed the lying thieves have checked my Transunion report. They list
their info as; Credigy, 3950 Johns Creek C, Suite 100, Suwanee, GA 30024
(866) 204-3457. They did this on 4/2007 so maybe the # is good. I have
filed a formal complaint w/ the FTC, BBB, and am investigating if there is a
possibility to pursue a class action suit. This is mad!!!! How can a
company do this and g!
et away w/it? If that is the case, let's all say we bought a non existent
a/r acct, put it through to the CRA's and wait for someone to send us $.

After receiving this unconfirmed stmt of debt I disputed. They responded
2mths later with a "word" type doc w/ my name and "xxx" acct. # with the
following collection agencies/so called lender purchased debt. This debt
was placed w/ all 3 major CRA's and that's when the fun began. Initally, I
thought they must be joking....however, I soon realized there is nothing
about this CRA filing which was a joke. I disputed and it was deleted.
They have now come back 1yr later w/ a $7K plus stmt trying to initiate the
same credit torcher/death they started in 2005. I have researched all 3
companies and all 3 have the same issues. Like myself, people across the
country are having to defend themselves against these scam artist(albeit the
so-called legitmate businesses) have leached into main stream society much
like Enron and others which nobody would have believed prior to the outing
and prosecution of such artists. Again, they are back and I the "consumer"
must prove that they! the "scam artist" are not valid. Strange, horrific,
odd, incredible, all these come to mind and yet I and others are in the same

and then reinstate the "removed or deleted" item from your credit report
only to come back with a vengeance! Be watchful of these companies!!! |

I too have a complaint against First Select, Inc. Have any of you found out
anything since posting your complaint on the bad credit cards site? If you
have any valuable contact information that I may be able to use, please let
me know ASAP.
I had a Providian credit card sometime around 1998 and neglected to maintain
the account as I should have. Anyway, in 2004 I decided to buy a house.
Before doing so I had to clear up delinquent items on my credit report. One
of the items on my credit report was this First Select, Credigy stuff. I
tried to make contact with them as I did with everyone and got nowhere. The
telephone number was no longer in service. I called information trying to
get information - - - to no avail. Finally, as closing drew near, I had to
show the mortgage company where I had made contact with everyone and settled
accounts. I provided them all of the information where I tried to make
contact with these people. The attorney's office verified all of this
information and I had to provided them with a check to pay these First
Select folks. The check came back to the attorney's office within a week or
so. They held it for several weeks and then satisfied that due diligence
had been applied!
on our part, they returned to money to me.
Well, here we are in 2007 and I am trying to sell my house. So, guess what
my Realtor just found out??? Yea, these First Select folks have a $2,382.74
lien on my house and now the bank will not approve the sale of my house. I
can not freakin' believe this! How is it that they can do these things but
there is no valid contact information for us to use in an effort to resolve
these issues?!? I just don't get it. If any one of you have any
information that I may be able to use to contact these people, please let me
know. Thanks! |

1,200.00. I asked them nicely that what was about and that particular
person said i owed Homecoming Bank 1,200.00 and how am i going to pay for
it. I told them that they had the wrong person, i had never heard about
Homecoming Bank and First Select. I told them i want to know how they got
my number and called me. The person didn't want to anwer and kept saying
that how do you want to pay for this account. I told the guy that you're
ruding my breakfast and wasted my time i need to get ready to go work, then
i hung-up on him.
Next morning one of the lady called from Credigy on the same time again and
said the samething. I was rushed to go work and i didn't have time to talk
to her. I let my wife talk to her and my wife told me that she requested to
talk with her supervisor. The supervisor told me wife the samething; my
wife said that once again, we didn't have such account like that. A week
later, Credigy sent me a package for me to answer them. I wrote a letter to
Credigy that i didn't have such account like that with Homecoming Bank and
never heard them and i would like to have a copy of original account and
application from wherever they got the information from. Credigy only sent
me the original Creditor, which is Homecoming Bank and First Select.
What should i do right now? I checked Homecoming Bank's address that
credigy gave to me, it didn't exist anymore.
Notice that i bought my house in 2002 and none of this account was in my
credit and Credigy people claimed that i opened this account in March 9,

How could that be? If anyone has any advise please help me out.

Complaint: Well I have done some research and after finding this on my
credit report I have to say this. These are the type of ppl that try to go
after you either after the 7 year deadline is up or just before. Here's a
little tip, if your account was closed as of 7 years ago. Doesn't matter if
it was sold to someone else or not. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY. THEY CANNOT
LIST THIS ON YOUR CREDIT REPORT! 7 years after a charge off it is dropped
off your credit report. IF you pay them, guess what, reopens your account
and your stuck with it till you pay it off. If you don't you can simply
write them a letter stating. This debt was charged off and is beyond the 7
year deadline and you are asked to cease and desist from any and all
attempts to collect on this old debt. If they continue to harras you.
Contact a lawyer, have them send a letter, and if they still try, guess
what. LAWSUIT. Alot of debt buyers are trying to collect old debt from
people that are not knowledgable!
about the laws with debt collection. You pay in good faith when actually
your just screwing yourself. I have conacted them stating that this is an
old debt and they have no legal action against me and if they do I will seek
legal council. I also told them that they must remove this from my credit
report as its not legitimate. As far as contacting the credit bueros I
wouldn't bother. They don't even check. Its a joke when you contact them
saying its not your debt and they go, well yep its verified. They only
contact the debt collecter and ask, and they say yep they owe us money and
thats it. They just don't care, its not their credit thats getting
screwed. Just keep this in mind. Remember, you may owe them thousands of
dollars but usually its more economical to contact a lawyer and in the end
prolly cheaper. |

Complaint:
About several months ago I recieved a call at my parents' home from a
lawyer's office stating that I owe money to a company called "Fleet Bank
Visa". I told him I've never heard of the company nor have I ever had
anything to do with them, now and during my marrige(now divorced). When I
asked the guy who they (Fleet Bank)were, he just kept asking me how I was
going to pay the account, over and over again without answering my quetions.
After a few times of going through this, he then asked me if my last ssn#
was 5507. I replied "NO, it is not" and I heard him say "Oh God, I have the
wrong guy" and hung up without saying sorry or anything. He then called my
cell phone and started the conversation the same way as before. Again, I
asked him who Fleet Bank were, and still again no answer. I then reminded
him he just spoke with me on my parents' phone and he hung up.
Now, just a couple weeks ago I received a letter that was mailed to my
parents' home, which I do not resided there for over 14 years, from a law
firm in Delray Beach with a final judgement attached to it from First Select
Inc. I have no idea who First Select Inc. are and by the looks of this web
site, there are many people in the same boat as I am. Count me in if anyone
decides to file a class actin lawsuit against these people. I talked with my
x wife last night and she told me that any credit cards we had when we were
married are off her credit report. First Select was not on there. I hope
some good comes out for all of us. |

Complaint: As everyone else on this site i too have had to deal with First
Select . i originally had a discover card and when it was not paid on time
it was sold to First Select. In turn since i was not able to pay First
Select on time either they filed a judgement . I was finally able to pay off
the debt but had to literally call them every day till they sent the proper
paperwork to the court for satisfation of the judgement . After all that now
six months later i receive a letter from credigy collection agency saying i
still owe them money . When i spoke with them they stated that they were not
informed that the debt was paid. I had to fax them the satisfation of
judgement and still call to make sure they received it and to get some sort
of acknowledgement that the debt is cleared. After many arguements and run
arounds i still have not been given any acknowledgement of the debt being
paid off from Credigy. These companies are fast to charge the money but not
to acknowloedg!
e the mistakes they have committed . Nobody there knows what they are doing
and are clueless. Something must be done against these companies. |

Complaint: Im glad i found this website.Apparantely
not only is Credigy Receivables in violation of the FDCPA s 809,
they are also using deceptive collection practices. I am a victim of
Identity Theft and its been going on since 2000, however I wasnt
aware of it until recently when I kept getting calls for an
individual with the same last name but a different first name. To
make the long story short, they are using the caller ID Spoofing
methods(perfectly legal), in order to convince you you owe them a
debt. They identify themselves as "card services". Theyve thus far
failed to validate a deb! t,they have threatened to sue me for
something I dont owe.Funny thing is, they are also in the practice
of illegally making a "phantom" $1.00 payment on old debts in an
effort to reset Statute of Limitations. I have a complaint and an
open investigation with the local law enforcement and the OCC. I am
preparing to file a report with the FTC as soon as the police report
is ready. I would love to join a CLASS ACTION lawsuit against these
DECEIVING BASTARDS! |

Complaint_against: First SelectComplaint:
It appears this company has filed a lien on a house that I have
nothing to do with. My ex-fiance lives there, pays for it, etc. I
signed a quit claim deed in 2003 and also filed bankruptcy in 2003
because he had gotten behind in payments and they were coming after
me. I'm not paying for a house I do not live in. Anyway, He is
either selling or refinancing and during the title search a lien
came up under my married name from 2001. I haven't lived at that
address since 2000! I was never served any kind of papers! There is
absolutely nothing on my credit report about any kind of judgement
or lien. The amount the lien is for is $3100 and there is absolutely
nothing on my credit report dating that far back! What a JOKE!! I am
going to be contacting BBB and the Illinois Attorney General. |

Complaint_against: Credigy and First Select
Complaint: I had a discover card I didnt pay that went to
collections (first select) I was living in deleware at the time and
they got a judgement there. I moved to pa and they found out and put
the forien judgment in PA. I paid the judgement, oh by the way it
was filed in 2002 and the first in 2001. I paid it and now feb 7
2009, I am trying to open up a additional bank account at a bank I
barely use and the teller explaines to me that the new account would
ammediately be garnished wow. (Credigy) I immediately had a bad
headache. I never heard of them. This has been so long that I dont
even know where the amount came from $2,349. I am so mad driving
home. The crazy thing is I didnt recieve so much as a letter from
this company stating anything. That they was going to take over this
false debt or that they was going to sue me garnish my money without
me even knowing Wow. Only thing that popped in my mind was scam I
then remembered that amount as a number from a judgement I am sure I
paid. I got home and I couldn't find my paid satisfaction letter.
Then Whew I found an old credit report that shows satified for the
delaware judgment but none for the PA. thing is its the same one.
The Pa judment says foreign judgment filed. I am going to sue the
pants off of them. |

Complaint_against: First SelectComplaint: I
guess i had an outstanding balance on this credit card, when i lost
my job back in 1998 or 1999. A lawyer group has garnisheed my
friends bank account, where i deposit my weekly check, because i
cannot open my own acct. due to bad credit. I have not acquired any
cc's nor any loans since i lost my job. The original amount of the
balance on the cc was 2324.46, and the man i spoke with said the
back was now 4700. plus change. The bank acct was hit with the
garnishment out of the blue, with no forwarning letter, no phone
call..because i don't have phone in my name! other than my cell. I
looked up on the internet the Limitations on collecting a cc debt in
Florida and it's said 4 years. Now this company has been trying to
collect a balance of 2324.46 for over 10 years..they have probably
spent 3 or 4 times that amount in this pursuit. Greedy Greedy

Complaint: So my bank gets a writ of garnishment for me today that
is from a judgment against me back in February 2000. A judgment I
know nothing about. Until today I haven't recieved any papers from
any court about this. So my checking and savings has been completely
emptied and they have also emptied my mothers accounts as well. My
rent check has bounced. I have no money to feed my kids or pay
bills. I am a single mother of two. This hardly seems right or
legal. With no notice they took all my money. And I am guessing that
they will garnish my wages as will. I have never heard of this
compan! y. They have basically put me and my kids in the poor house.

Complaint: Much like some of the other complaints
that I've read, I am unsure of exactly who this company is. They
have threatened to garnish my wages and there seems to be no
knowledge of how much is owed. This to me seems to be a scam and I
do not want to be responsible for a debt that I don't owe. What
should I do? |
