Complaint_against: AARP Visa's Restocking Fee fraud
Complaint:
This Chase Visa card disgraces the integrity of the AARP. On November 29 a
complaint was filed when an $800 bed order was cancelled because of the
retailer's failure to abide by its delivery protocol -delivery was to be at
an vacant out-of-state dwelling that was to be temporarily occuppied at time
of scheduled delivery. Retailer was aware of time restraints.
AARP visa did everything to help the retailer. A follow-up status call which
luckily happened to be the day prior to the matter was to be closed for the
alleged lack of my written documentation revealed my written response with
photostats of the order made, the sales contract, email notifications to the
company "...could not be located "
On January 17th when my status inquiry received the response from this
bank's Dispute Agent that the matter has been forwarded to its Review
Department which can not be reached because it has no telephone # - all
communications are via email I requested a supervisor. The supervisor to
whom I was ultimately connected did authorize the credit.
With each telephone call made to the AARP visa Dispute Dept and I reported
the call was regarding the cancellation of an order for non-delivery, the
immediate response was "the company can charge a Restocking Fee for a
cancellation." These professionals are fully cognizant of FTC's regulations
in this matter- instead of offering suggestions to expedite processing of a
legitimate complaint it did nothing
This documents how the Restocking Fee has become an invitation to use a
potent weapon against the unarmed consumer - the work, the certified mail,
other postage and stationery used by a victimized consumer to prove his or
her innocense "...beyond a reasonable doubt" is more than the effort and
expense caused by the improper cancellation or return of a product where a
Restocking Fee can be honestly demanded.
Why isn't the consumer entitled to a Reordering Fee for the inconvenience
caused? As long as the consumer remains defenseless the Restocking Fee
offers carte blanche to the dishonest and incompetent retailers to rip-off
the consumer - it provides carte blanche
On the same date that the AARP visa supervisor authorized the refund I
received from AARP visa a US Postal communication that directed I should
take the matter up with the retailer - AARP visa never stopped trying to
"aid and abet" |

| Complaint_against: AARP
Complaint: This is one outfit NOT to join. They started as being a
representative organization for elderly pepople. Then as they kept
doing things most people were against lost members. Then AARP
lowered the age to join to get members. However membership is
meaningless. The discounts through AARP are not as good as a price
for the same item or service gotten directly! I have looked at
insurance, savings, and some other things. AARP represented cost
more! Their latest crap was to back a reduction in MEDICARE upon
which many retired rely (if they can find a doctor that will take
the low repayments). Rather than fighting for the retired and
elderly, AARP is only interested in its own income. AARP supports
the stupid health insurance bills in congress. Why do they not
support fixing Medicare first? Don't waste you money to join this
group. |
