Complaint:
Approved a $1500 credit line, after about a year reduced to $500 because of
"Too many recently opened retail accounts" and " Too many delinquent
accounts". I sent them current credit reports disputing their accusations,
and made numerous calls to them. After 9 months of no responses at all, I am
ready to stop paying and suffer the consequences.
I did have a bankruptcy in 2000, but they approved me in 2005 despite it. I
was paying my bill in full every month and have paid everything else on time
for years. |

Complaint:
I had a minimal balance on my Target card. Minimal being about $8.00. I
never received a statement from them for over a year and then received a
statement of over $1300. When contacted they said that this balance was due
to interest and late fees. They were sent $500 immediatly and then in the
mail we got a statement that we owe them $1974.81!!!!!!!Is this legal?
I should have gone to a loan shark and got the loan and been much better
off.NEVER GET THEIR CARD OR SHOP AT TARGET!!!!!!!!!! |

Complaint_against: Target VisaComplaint: I
have been a good customer of Target Visa for a number of years. I
have a ridiculously high limit, and until the last year, when a
separation and move resulted in a couple of late (not missed)
payments, I was happy to use their card over some others, despite it
not having the best interest rate to begin with or offering balance
transfer options. But over the last year, their unwillingness to
modify my initial interest rate resulted in my transfering my
balances (substantial ones) to other cards or paying off large
balances. Then I discovered they have upped my interest rate ! to
nearly 30% under their "default rate" for being late 2 times in 1
year. I am paying the account off, and informed them that I will not
continue to use the card unless they lower my rate. I was told that
it will take 12 months of no missed payments before they can adjust
my rate. Which is ridiculous, especially when the rate hike is the
result of extenuating circumstances that even they acknowledge.
Furthermore, I was just informed that EVEN IN THE CURRENT ECONOMIC
CLIMATE, the current corporate policy is that they are not reviewing
ANYONE's interest rates to lower them at this time. No matter what.
What a stupid corporate policy that is! While companies all around
are making efforts to help consumers manage their debt in the
current economic crisis, Target's corporate policy/strategy, is to
continue to hike the rates, refuse to consider rate reductions, even
for very loyal customers, and potentially cause account holders to
default on the loan entirely (even when, ! like me, they merely need
to reduce the monthly payments to something manageable). That's
utterly ridiculous!!!!!! I am going to reap the benefits of having a
$0 balance on a high limit card, where it will improve my credit
score, but I cut the card up months ago, and might even freeze the
account entirely, and you can bet that as soon as closing the
account will not have adverse effects on my credit, I will close the
account and never sign up with them again. What a stupid company. |

Target Late Fee Scam |
| Complaint_against: Target
Complaint: Had a target credit card and only used it
minimally because I could not get statements regularly from them. On
at least 2 occasions the statements they say they sent were never
received. Had made a small charge in March of $30, did not receive
any statements from them so I had forgotten about the charge. 2mos
later I finally get a statement with $44 in late fees on a $30
charge. Called them and discussed and they refused to lower fees, so
I went ahead and paid it that day via my online banking accout and
paid the full amount based on what they told me the balance due was.
Out of the blue 2mos later I get another b! ill with a balance of
$99.00, when I called to inquire what this was for since I knew I
had not made any charges. I was told that when I paid previous
balance because I paid with online banking I must have generated
another late fee??. The $99 was not for any charges made by me but
for new late fees even though I paid in full. They said it must have
came a day late from my bank??? They did not tell me I should/could
pay right on the phone with them rather than use my online
banking, and suprisingly they did not call me to tell me, hey you are
late(on your late fee), even though they have my number. Their
answer when I questioned why wouldn't they call me if I was 2mos
behind was they did call and got no answer and someone hung up on
them(yeah right) How convenient. This is obviously such a money maker
for them the reps refuse to work with you and are downright rude.
What other business can get away with this type of business
practices?? Needless to say I closed my account(th! at they
previously talked me into keeping open)and will not shop at Ta rget
in the future and will be very leary of these type of store credit
cards. |

Complaint_against: targetComplaint: I have
been a loyal and amazing customer to target and their target Visa
card for 10 years. I have brought my balance up and then paid the
entire thing off a number of times. Which Credit cards like right-
as they get all that interest without the fear of me not being able
to pay. Well, after two moves in 6 months and a separation my
balance was about half. Over the holidays I was very busy and was 3
days late on a payment. 3 DAYS!! And they cut my credit line in
half, hicked my interest to the limit and when I asked why over the
phone all they said was there are many factors that go into such a
thing. ONE late! payment in 10 years!!! And now for NO reason It was
cut again. they keep cutting it to just above my current balance
because legally they can not cut it to below what you currently owe.
This last cut was with no cause. I have not applied for any credit
anywhere in years. I have no problem paying my bills but it is
robbery and unethical to mess with someones credit score so that a
company can profit more. I will not shop at Target anymore. I live
in NY and frankly I don't need to. I will never use my card again
and plan to pay it off in one fell swope and then immediatly closing
the account. They are a crooked corporation. |
